HE SAID... WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN THERE'S A STORM BREWING?

Tony Walker
Here in NY, Long Island in particular, we are dealing with the devastation of Hurricane Sandy. I was going to write something about that storm but decided against it. There are a million places to see, hear, & read about the hurricane. I've decided to stick with what I do best.... and if anyone knows what that is please let me know.

This week's He Said is actually a "He's Asking".  So my question is: Do you stay together for the kids sake or not?

Right now I know 3 people who are in their marriages solely for the kids. These people believe that splitting up with their spouse would mess up their kids. I'm sure all of you have heard that reasoning from someone you know. But is staying together for the kids sake doing more damage? If you're fighting, do you want the kids to witness that? Maybe you're not fighting but you're miserable... do you want your kids growing up thinking that being married means being miserable? Of these three I speak of, one woman recently told her husband that she doesn't love him anymore so right now they're together for the kids. She's so happy she finally got this off her chest that one would never know her marriage is over. So is fooling the kids an option too?

I look at my life.... my father split when my mother was pregnant with me. I lived with my mother, brother, & grandmother. My best friend was right next door & there were plenty of kids on my street & in our neighborhood. I had a great childhood. Later in life I found out my father was a screw up his whole life until he died in a bizarre motorcycle crash in his early 40's. I was 10 when it happened. I realized I was better off with my parents NOT together.

Based on my own story, my vote is to not stay together for the kids sake.

Tell me and all of us at DRL what you think.
Do you agree with me? Do you know kids who got messed up because his/her parents split?

JOHN MCAFEE LOSES IT!

Marion Pellicano Ambrose

John McAfee founded McAfee software  in 1987. By the early 1990s the company had grown into the largest anti-virus company in the world. By giving the software away for free then charging for technical support and upgrades, he changed the software industry  forever. In 1994, McAfee became bored with his business and stepped down as CEO . He sold all of his shares for $100 Million.  After the sale, the company continued to grow by leaps and bounds. If John McAfee had held onto his shares he would now be a multi billionaire!
Instead, McAfee began spending like there was no tomorrow. He accumulated a mansion in Hawaii, a jet, a ranch, and more. Bad investments caused him to claim bankruptcy in 2008. He sold all his possessions and barely had $4 million to his name.
It was at that point McAfee moved to Belize, where he believed his money would go farther. He began dating a 17 year old girl and opened a "new age" pharmaceutical company. It was believed by local authorities, that he was actually producing methamphetamine and "bath salts". In May of this year he was thrown in jail and his house was searched. Police found quite a few guns. He was released a day later.
Today, police announced that John McAfee is the prime suspect in the murder of his neighbor, Gregory Faull.( Last Wednesday, Faull filed a formal complaint against McAfee in the local mayor's office, claiming that the McAfee had been firing off guns and exhibiting "roguish behavior." )
McAfee is on the run from police but granted a phone interview today where he claimed that the FBI and authorities had been after him for a long time and that he was totally innocent. He believes the Prime Minister of Belize and the police are setting him up and that he will be killed if turned over to the police. And so, the millionaire/would -be billionaire has basically lost it all: his fortune, his possessions, and quite possibly his mind!

KEEP THE FAITH & DO SOMETHING KIND TODAY...

Faith is believing when it is beyond the power of reason to believe.
It means daring to imagine or embrace the unfathomable.
It means to dig deep and find strength that you didn't know you had. To find courage with every breath and every tear.

We must hold onto faith.
We must hold onto hope.
We must love.
We must be angels to each other when we can't make sense out of things, because there isn't any sense to what has happened.
But there is always FAITH, HOPE & LOVE to be shared through every kindness.
Our hearts and thoughts surround those in recovery from the storm.

Prayers continue for all that are still dealing with the great destruction and aftermath of Sandy...

"Protect them Lord and keep them safe. Grant them mercy and give them grace"

WHAT MATTERS

Barbara Ward-Finneran

Friends & family... and friends that are family

Gratitude for all the little things

Strangers and neighbors who care and share

Ideas and love - you can never run out of either

The scent of you favorite flowers in the air

A warm sea breeze on your cool skin

Remembering someone who is grieving

The light of the full moon reminding you there is always a way through the darkness

Keeping the promises that you make to yourself!

IT'S IN THE CARDS

PATTY B
Being it's the season of spirits and magic, I have a question for you. Does one truly believe in what the cards may say?.. I say "Yes".  But to each there own. Many will have their own thoughts on this subject. For me, having recently lost both of my parents within a very short time frame, I find comfort in the draw of the cards. There are times when no matter how old I maybe by my drivers license profile I will always and forever be their little girl.  I will always be trying to seek approval in my own ways. But, now with both of my parents, no longer on this Earth (but I hope in a better realm), I must concentrate on whats best for me and my children.

But how does one take the intial leap of faith? Not knowing if you will be alright.  Always second guessing your worst fears. I was struggling with wanting more direction with my fears and wanting to arm myself with faith.  Some dear friends of mine enlightened me to the world of crystals, stones and cards. Now mind you I can not read like those who do so very well with Tarrot cards.  In fact in this month of Witches and Spirits I have had my cards professionally read for me and amazingly the readings were spot on. My deck of cards that I "read" are Oracle cards of Angels.  When I second guess or want to know how my day might be I randomly draw a card and see what it might say. For me, at this time in my life it is a true God send. The proverbaly wisdom and feeling I get once I chose a card helps me go about my day in a more productive manner. I feel it helps guide me along my journey of life. I find comfort in the draw and linking it to my feelings and faith.

I also mentioned crystals and stones.   I still am a total newbie to this "art" but have been told the crystal(s) one seeks have certain meaning unto their own. For me my crystal and stones are still a work in progress but do I believe  they help ground me and bring me some inner peace.  Others may find Peace in yoga or deep mediation or by other means.  I have tried this, but, I can not truly stop my mind from thinking about the "to do list".  So for now, or until I can meditate without the world crashing in, I leave my fate to my crystal and cards with a dash of faith and fun. Anyway you look at it, what happens next in your journey is all about your luck of the draw.  Try something new.  Deal yourself a little fun and mix things up a bit.  Get a reading done.  You might find yourself just having fun, you might find your self less of a skeptic once it's done, and if you are "lucky", you might just find a new "thing" that you love.

DRL SAID, HE SAID'S BACK! ... WE'VE MISSED YOU MR. WALKER

TONY WALKER
So I've been wracking my brain trying to come up with a big way to mark my return to the lovely ladies of my favorite Lounge in the whole world.

There's only one way to mark that return... talking about sex!!!

But don't worry... I am going to go easy on you guys. I am going to ask you one question, a question you've been asked before.
WHERE IS THE CRAZIEST PLACE YOU'VE HAD SEX?

Now don't get all prim and proper on me and refuse to answer this question! You ladies talk about sex just as much as us guys! Don't even think about denying it!
So "man up" & tell us your story. Give me a comment!

My craziest was in a movie theatre. I didn't hit a home run but I made it to 3rd base. It was really cool.

I know you Loungers can beat me though... I mean beat my story. Surely there are some mommy's bedroom, out in public, at the baseball field people out there. Let's hear your story!!! Give me some comments.....!

WHAT MATTERS

Barbara Ward-Finneran

Memories that escape as tears.

Bear hugs from the kids.

Being present to where you are right now.

Facing your fears.

Kissing passionately.

Quieting your mind and listening to your inner voice.

Appreciating the beauty all around you.

Knowing when to hold on and when to let go.

The power of prayers.

Keeping the promises that you make to yourself!

PAMELA'S SURVIVOR STORY - REPRISE

My Journey Through OZ
Pamela Embury

As you know, we all have a story to tell, each one different yet the same. You see, we all share a common thread, something that was unwanted, and yet came anyway to invade our bodies, our lives and our souls. Bonds between breast cancer survivors are unique, it is that beautiful acceptance that is not materialistic, just pure.

My name is Pamela and at the age of 37 I knew I had breast cancer without even going to the doctors. You see, I had been fighting to get approval for mammograms and sonograms since I was 35 but because I had no family history, and was so young, they rejected my multiple requests. Finally, after two years, I was diagnosed through bilateral sonogram. I KNEW IT! To the day of my bilateral mastectomies in 2008,
my mammograms were all normal. I was that small percentage with dense breasts where mammograms would not help. I was diagnosed with left breast invasive ductal carcinoma in 2 of 3 masses with DCIS in the third. My nodes were negative. My ER/PR status were 99% each and my Her2neu was initially reported as negative, however, a year later the copy I received stated positive, and thus I missed out on an incredible drug herceptin, which might have prevented my recurrence.
