SOUL FOOD

Barbara Ward-Finneran

At times goals may seem unattainable or out of reach. Days may slip by without your feeling or seeing tangible progress. You cannot consent your body to quitting when your soul yearns to soar. Focus and foster postive thoughts. Hold fast to the faith in yourself. Faith is believing when it is beyond the power of reason to believe. It means daring to imagine or embrace the unfathomable. Believe in yourself and ANYTHING is POSSIBLE!

Keep the promises that you make to yourself!

WANNA LAUGH?!?!?! - Calorie Free

Plump lady to the waitress: "I would like to have DEATH BY CHOCOLATE for dessert, but only enough to put me in critical condition!"

EAT PRAY LOVE

Tony Walker

How many of you saw the movie "Eat Pray Love?"
From what I knew of the movie it didn't seem like the kind of movie I would like but in trying to score with my wife I agreed to watch it with her when she rented it last week.
I was right. I didn't like it.
I'd see it again just because Julia Roberts looks fantastic but otherwise I thought it was awful. This is where I get into the premise of the movie so if you wanna see this but haven't, I am about to ruin it. You've been warned.
Julia Roberts plays a well renowned author, Liz Gilbert. She is known and makes super money but doesn't have much luck with men and is unsatisfied with her life. So she drops everything and decides to go to Italy, India, then Bali for some spiritual knowledge and to find herself.
She goes to these countries and not a single bad thing happens to her. She makes wonderful friends, stays at the most beautiful places, and once in Bali she falls in love with a man and they end up happily ever after.
Are you kidding???
My problem with this movie is that so many women (maybe men too but I've heard women talk about this movie) will identify with this movie. "I would LOVE to go to those places!" Give me a break!
First off, she is a big time author with a ton of money. I know money can't buy happiness but come on! How many of you would LOVE to have a cool job like a well known author? Hey Liz! Try flipping burgers all day! Be grateful you get to do what you love and express yourself through your writings!
How many women who saw this movie are now thinking of ways to pack up and take an extensive vacation like she took to all those wonderful places???
Yes you too will go to these places and make a million friends and not have a single problem! You won't suffer from loneliness! You won't get sick! You won't wander into any "bad parts of town" and only find beautiful sunsets! You will meet wonderful, sexy men who will sweep you off your feet!
I'm sorry. I just find all this supposed spiritual journeys to be a bunch of crap. You have issues with yourself, running away to all these places won't get you away from you! Plus the fact that most of us can't afford to take off for months like this character did.
Look at one of my favorite women-the beautiful Jennifer Copp. She didn't leave her girls to go "find herself." She came home and found ways to make the best of some negative situations by taking advantage of positive surroundings and being close to family and friends. She appears to be in a good place and very happy. She didn't run away. Julia Roberts should have made the "Jenn Copp Story!"
What do you guys think? Did you see the movie? Have you ever gone on extended trips in hopes of finding yourself?

LUNCH TIME POLL

"Egyptian-born doctor and surgeon Ayman al-Zawahri is al Qaeda's second-in-command expected to succeed Osama bin Laden following his killing in a firefight with U.S. forces in Pakistan. Zawahri has been the brains behind bin Laden and his al Qaeda network, and at times its most public face, repeatedly denouncing the United States and its allies in video messages."

We do not know the whereabouts of al-Zawahri.

Should we fear retaliation for killing bin Laden?
Will you be taking extra steps to secure your safety?
What are your thoughts?

BIN LADEN KILLED

Dawn Boyle

My blood runs red, white and blue. I am truly proud to be American, not only today...everyday. I am torn with emotions with the news over the death of that animal that attempted to destroy my country nearly ten years ago.

I had fallen asleep early last night to the Real Housewives of the OC and woke up to make my first of many nightly trips to the bathroom and when I got back into bed Andy Cohen was announcing that bin Laden was killed. I felt a rush of heat throughout my entire body. The images and fear I felt that morning, not knowing the safety of my husband and a number of friends and family. I was lucky that day as I held my two month old daughter. My husband did escape the horrors that occurred and would only find out in the days later the people who had touched my life that were not that lucky.

Everyone has a story of 9/11. Everyone remembers the unity of the entire country the days, weeks and months that followed. The new fears for our children, the heightened security, the War on Terror and all the men and women who bravely fight for our country. We all learned that day how life can change in a moment. We learned that you can go to work where you sit behind a desk or fight fires and not come home. We learned the true meaning of evil and how we could be paralyzed by some sick bastards with distorted views who masterminded such destruction. We learned how incredibly vulnerable we all really are.

May 1, 2011 will be remembered as the day Justice was Served. God Bless America, it's gonna be an interesting time ahead. We must NEVER FORGET. We must remember all the victims, from that day and all the days that followed, especially the CHILDREN OF 9/11. We must stay the course and be PROUD TO BE AMERICAN.

Osama bin Laden has been killed!

It has been reported that Al-Qaida mastermind Osama bin Laden is dead!
The Associated Press has reported this as of 11:17pm May 1, 2011,
as have all other major news networks.

Let us pause to remember how our world was changed in an instant.  How so many lives were lost on 9/11/01 and in all the days since those horrific events.  The men and women who serve our country and continue to make the ultimate sacrifice for all of us and our freedom.
GOD BLESS ALL THOSE WHOSE LIVES WERE TAKEN OR FOREVER CHANGED!

GOD BLESS & PROTECT ALL THOSE WHO SERVE OUR COUNTRY! (Now more then ever!)

GOD BLESS AMERICA!

NEVER, NEVER FORGET!

UNITED WE STAND!

Though we are many, though we are diverse, though we have different faiths
and views; Democrats, Republicans and otherwise...
we are Americans and we will stand united, one nation under God!

GREEN LOUNGE - GREAT IDEA

Marion Pellicano Ambrose

WHAT A GREAT IDEA.  NO MORE TWIST TIES OR RUBBER BANDS.  This method is WATER PROOF AND AIR TIGHT.  Brilliant!

Seal Plastic Bags with Old Bottle Caps

Cut up a disposable water bottle and keep the neck and top, as in photo.
Insert the plastic bag through the neck and screw the top to seal.
The bag is made to be air-tight, such that water will not leak, the secret lies with the top and screw cap!
This is a great idea to share.  Good for us and the environment too.
