GOING OUT ON A LIMB...LITERALLY

I'm already looking towards next summer.
No this isn't a "I hate winter" bitch and moan session.
I have good reason to look towards next summer.

With Social Security paying me next to nothing then cutting my pay this past June (I am making less than nothing now!) and my discrimination lawsuit against Verizon moving at a slow pace, I need money now. I need to focus on my new career of performing. I need to move forward.
So I've come up with a business idea that may be the answer to my financial problems, which then means it may fix some marriage issues.

DISABLED BUT ABLE

OK gang. I am pissed.

I hate to admit it, but I am a disabled person. I try my best to not be disabled but I am reminded every time I use my left foot to control the pedals in my car, every time I have to sit on a bath chair to take a shower, every time my son runs & I cannot chase him because I don't know how to run. However... I can still carry heavy equipment, I can keep up with the 2 guys who are helping me redo my kitchen right now, I can perform in live theatre, & I am better in bed than most men.

One thing I can do is drive a big truck, work special equipment that puts a telephone pole in the ground, climb a ladder, & work on the pole. I received 100% clearance from several doctors allowing me to do the job I had for several years. I busted my ass to get that clearance.

So why won't my employer allow me to do this job? Why would they put me on light duty which denies me overtime? Why would they call me a liability & make fun of me about it? Why would they make me inadequate & take money away from me... money that I need to take care of my family? Why would they force me out, deny my disability retirement request which forced me to collect Social Security, but then they messed with that too? 

I am not bucking the system.... it's pretty hard to fake a fake leg.

I've been through hell. I had cancer.

When will it end?!

Well guess what you bastards.... the end may be coming.

After more than 3 years since I filed my lawsuit I finally have my first court date on July 19. Wish me luck!!

Disabled people are still abled damnit!!!

When I win my lawsuit I am stealing Boyle for a weekend.... a week.... a month... to do some big time celebrating!

So the He Said She Said sparked quite the debate didn't it?
Boyle made a comment that was actually going to be a future He Said She Said topic I had planned but since she brought it up I am going to talk about it now.

She said she is thinking about going away for a week & not bringing her phone. This is a sensitive topic for me. My wife has gone away twice & is now planning another trip.

I won't lie to you... it's a bitch when she's gone. I do a lot with the kids but it's a nice to know mommy is home too just in case I just sat down & one of the brats now want something. Maybe mommy will get it this time. To be "on call" 24 hours a day is exhausting. (Hats off to you single moms! My mom was one so hats off to her too!)

The first 2 trips my wife took were both in 2009. I wasn't thrilled about the first one but I understand we all need a break. We survived the week but it was tough at times. Our autistic daughter couldn't understand why mommy had to go. She was mad about it & made sure everyone knew. The second time I was pissed. Like I said, it was the same year. You just had a break & now you're going again?? Our daughter was even more cranky the second time around plus I had to work which meant getting babysitters. I guess I bitched enough because in 2010 she didn't go anywhere but now she is planning a trip for the end of June. 

My cancer was diagnosed in 2002. Since all the chemo, surgeries, amputation, heartache, aggravation, etc. I have only taken a 3 day weekend with a couple of friends. What I would LOVE to do is go away for a few days (if not longer) with my wife! We have not had a vacation alone since our honeymoon in 1998. But that is not happening anytime soon.

So I am not happy she is going away again. We all need our "me" time. I get that. We all need a break to regroup. I get that. But when does it become too much? Where is the balance?

What pisses me off even more is that I can't get my wife to take a morning off so we can be naked after the kids go to school but she'll take a few days to go somewhere without me? Again!!

So when Boyle goes away I hope she does have her phone because I'll be calling her to find out where she is staying because I am going to meet up with her. Then we'll leave our phones in the suitcases!!!

Brace yourselves.... my He Said post for this week is not sexual! I know that's hard to believe coming from me. Sorry.

One thing I've seen many of you sexy ladies complain about at The Lounge is that your man does not help you enough around the house. Well if you ladies are anything like my wife I may know why.
First a little history.... from the moment my wife moved into my house I helped with household chores. Since life is all about sex, I was always looking for ways to score points. What better way to score right?
Fast forward a few years to when I started my cancer fun. I was laid up for 3 years so my wife had to do EVERYTHING in the house. Once I was back on my feet, or in my case foot, I did not help with the chores right away. We both became accustomed to my wife doing everything. It wasn't a conscious decision for me not to help, it was just what I was used to after 3 years. My wife was used to it too. It took her awhile to realize that things did not have to be this way anymore.

So a few years ago she came to see & said she wants me to help like used to. No argument here. There is no reason why I can't help. So I immediately did.

THE TIES THAT "BOND"

A little under a month ago I read an article that moved me. I really can't explain the feeling I had and have had since reading about a young couple from Brooklyn, Nathan and Elisa Bond. It starts with a wedding video....you know what - just go get the tissues now.

Nathan has Stage 3 colorectal cancer. He has been given a 60% chance of surviving five years or more. Elisa has Stage 4 breast cancer and has a 16% chance of surviving five years. Nathan is 38 and his beautiful bride is only 36, they found out they had cancer within 9 days of each other. They are the parents of a beautiful 18 month old little girl named Sadie.

There is now a blog that Elisa does here on blogger. Friends have set up a site to donate, which I will link at the bottom of this post.

Please take the time to read their story. Say a prayer, send a note if you can, please donate. This truly is one AMAZING family. You never know the cards you are dealt or how you will deal with them once you have looked at the hand. Take a moment to appreciate those people that share this life with you, you never know what tomorrow brings.

RELAY FOR LIFE SEASON

Relay for Life is in full swing this time of year with events going on at high schools and locations across the nation.  The events feature all kinds of great activities.  The survivor walks and testimonials, and luminary lined fields and stadiums are some of the most emotional and compelling.  Hope overflows and courage & strength are contagious as those who lost their battles are remembered.

Entertainment of all sorts goes on throughout the day and into the evening.  Games, food, and booths of fun galore abound around the grounds for spectators to visit and support with purchases and donations while dedicated teams walk the relay long into the darkness of the night. (I'll be with my team later today and into the night.)

All the events have a common cause to raise money for the American Cancer Society.  They create family fun with a purpose.  Find one near you.  Get involved.  Volunteer.  Join a team or just visit the event and enjoy the festivities.  You'll be glad you did!!! A good time will be had by all!!!
