Tony wrote last week about the Facebook Flame and the destruction is does to families....today I want to put a different spin on the harms of Facebook flirting.....
I have two friends who are happily married. They have wonderful children and awesome jobs. They do charity work and help out at the school their children attend whenever asked. From the outside these two have it all together. You can walk into their house unannounced and it looks like they're ready for a party of 15 to arrive.....so not me! Anyway, I talk to these two women often, at least 3-4 times a week. We talk about money, our children and husbands that don't listen to us and how much our mortgage payments and taxes are making us broke. We make plans for drinks and play dates, we get together with our husbands a few times a year as well....here is the difference, they are both broken hearted over someone from Facebook.
My one girlfriend has been carrying on with this one guy from high school since day 1 of Facebook. They haven't seen each other, but speak to each other online and on the phone a few times a day. They say I love you before the end of each conversation and basically she has told me that the only thing that gets her through each day is talking to him.....isn't that cheating??
The other friend is a little bit different. She is actually having a nervous breakdown because her Facebook flame (again - has never seen him) basically broke up with her....how does that happen? I avoid her calls now. I don't want to hear about how he hasn't returned her inbox messages, that he blocked her and how she is now considering telling his wife.....seriously? How can you be in love with someone that you never saw? Never actually had real life interaction with?
How is it that two smart women would get themselves involved with school-girl crushes?? Why is this one acting like Glenn Close from Basic Instinct?
Are they really willing to end it all and walk away from their families, awesome jobs, and seemingly having their acts together, for some random guy from high school they haven't seen in about 25 years? What could possibly be better then the lives they have?
Which brings me to my next topic....THE FACEBOOK FRAUD!
We all know them, their bullshit is smelt in every fabricated post. They lie about job positions, or accomplishments in their info. They post pictures so enticing that even the shrudest person could fall victim. These guys wisk you off in a moments notice to vacations, praying on divorced women who have children, or ones with low self-esteem. They fill their heads up with non-sence of white picket fences and happily ever-after or some other get rich quick scheme.
The truth is these guys are the biggest cons! The come in sweep you off your feet and then you turn around and they have stolen money from you and have left you with a broken heart or scratching your head....LADIES BEWARE, they are on each one of our friends lists, waiting to pounce if given the opportunity!
Go with your gut, and remember the old saying....if it seems to good to be true....IT IS!!
