MODERN MIRACLE- AND YOU WON'T BELIEVE WHAT IT IS!
I’ve been so focused on trying to lose weight lately! I gained a lot of weight when I had to be on Prednisone for 9 months. It didn’t help my disease, but it made me blow up like the Goodyear Blimp! Since I’ve been off steroids, I’ve tried everything to lose weight: Weight Watchers, Nutrisystem, Counting calories, and starvation. I lost a pound one day and gained it back the next, even without cheating! Finally I read that Atkins helped people with Autoimmune Diseases to lose weight so I followed it faithfully for a month and a half. I lost 15 pounds and was thrilled, except no one seemed to notice a difference. My clothes fit a little better, but not what I would have expected. After the first 15, I hit a plateau and couldn’t lose any more. I broke the diet and went back to plain, healthy eating (low fat, no bread or cake, very little sweets at all and lots of veggies and fruit) and gained 10 pounds! I know I would probably lose some weight if I could exercise, but my disease keeps me from even walking any distance. I can’t lift things, raise my arms above my head or even stand for any period of time. I realized I was depressed, tired all the time, couldn’t concentrate and I started to lose my hair again(and I’m not on chemo). I also noticed the spasms in my legs have gotten worse and I’m having trouble sleeping at night.
Sound familiar? If you are experiencing these same symptoms I might have news for the both of us! I came across some information that may hold the key to my problem. The following are all some of the major symptoms and signs associated with an under active thyroid. Some symptoms are more significant than others.
Depression, weight gain, difficulty losing weight, low energy, fatigue, dry skin, hair loss, slowed thinking, poor concentration, brain fog, memory problems, insomnia, poor sleep, waking up exhausted, tingling in hands and feet, muscle pain, swelling in ankles, constipation, slow heart rate, low blood pressure, anemia, thinned eyebrows, pale, puffy skin, vertigo, fibrocystic breasts, low body temperature and hoarse voice.

The information was in an advertisement for a supplement that is supposed to handle all these symptoms and make you lose weight. I couldn’t believe what it was when I read it…………Iodine! The article stated that a combination of (5mg), Iodide(7.5mg),Selenium (15mcg) and Vitamin B2 (15mg) was all that was needed to reverse all the effects of an underactive thyroid- without a prescription. It also has been shown to help several other disorders. These conditions include Fibromyalgia, thyroid disorders, chronic fatigue immune deficiency syndrome, autoimmune disorders as well as cancer.
Is it true? Well, I did some research and there seems to be quite a lot of evidence backing it up. I found several varieties available on the internet and several studies showing that it does work for about 97% of the people tested. I sent away for the most popular form, Iodoral and plan to give it a go! Hopefully, the next time I post a picture of myself I’ll be thin, glowing with vitality and I’ll remember where I put my car keys! If you’re interested in doing some research yourself, here are some of the places I went for information.

DEFINITIVE ADVICE ON "WHOM TO MARRY"
WHOM TO MARRY? (written by kids)
You got to find somebody who likes the same stuff. Like, if you like sports, she should like it that you like sports, and she should keep the chips and dip coming. -- Alan, age 10
No person really decides before they grow up who they're going to marry. God decides it all way before, and you get to find out later who you're stuck with. -- Kristen, age 10
WHAT IS THE RIGHT AGE TO GET MARRIED?
Twenty-three is the best age because you know the person FOREVER by then. -- Camille, age 10
HOW CAN A STRANGER TELL IF TWO PEOPLE ARE MARRIED? You might have to guess, based on whether they seem to be yelling at the same kids. -- Derrick, age 8
WHAT DO YOU THINK YOUR MOM AND DAD HAVE IN COMMON? Both don't want any more kids. -- Lori, age 8
WHAT DO MOST PEOPLE DO ON A DATE?
Dates are for having fun, and people should use them to get to know each other. Even boys have something to say if you listen long enough. -- Lynnette, age 8 (isn't she a treasure)
On the first date, they just tell each other lies and that usually gets them interested enough to go for a second date. -- Martin, age 10
WHEN IS IT OKAY TO KISS SOMEONE? When they're rich. -- Pam, age 7 ( Love her )
-The law says you have to be eighteen, so I wouldn't want to mess with that. - - Curt, age 7
-The rule goes like this: If you kiss someone, then you should marry them and have kids with them. It's the right thing to do. - - Howard, age 8
IS IT BETTER TO BE SINGLE OR MARRIED?
It's better for girls to be single but not for boys. Boys need someone to clean up after them. -- Anita, age 9 (bless you child )
HOW WOULD THE WORLD BE DIFFERENT IF PEOPLE DIDN'T GET MARRIED? There sure would be a lot of kids to explain, wouldn't there? -- Kelvin, age 8
And the #1 Favorite is ........
HOW WOULD YOU MAKE A MARRIAGE WORK? Tell your wife that she looks pretty, even if she looks like a dump truck.

SAME SEX LOTTO IN NEW YORK
New York City will hold a lottery for couples who want to get married on first day same-sex marriage will be legal, the mayor announced Tuesday. Mayor Michael Bloomberg said that more than 760 couples will be selected to get married on Sunday in the city clerk's five borough offices. Couples can register for the lottery online or by calling 311 in the 48 hours beginning noon Tuesday. Winners will be notified by Friday at noon.
The steps are being taken to keep the day special and to avoid situations in which people wait for hours only to be turned away.
Couples will not be given a specific time to arrive and should expect for the process to take about an hour. Couples who wish to get married somewhere else can enter the lottery and receive the license and waiver on Sunday, then leave for their ceremony.
For couples who do not land a spot through the lottery, the city clerk's office will continue expanded operations next week, bringing in extra judges and staff and staying open two extra hours each day, to handle the anticipated demand.
Starting Monday, those weddings will be performed first-come, first-served, but Bloomberg said he doesn't expect people to be camping out overnight to get married.
Officials said 2,661 couples have already preregistered for marriage licenses online, and they believe about half of them wish to be married on Sunday. In all, officials expect about 2,500 couples to enter the lottery.
Officials expect the majority of couples who enter the lottery to be local residents, although couples who live out of state can also apply.

WANNA LAUGH?!?!
Tony Walker
Yesterday I went to see a man I used to work with. He's much older than me & retired many years ago.
This man is now very old & can hardly move.
While I was there he asked me if I could go upstairs to get his shoes. He was complaining his feet were cold.
I go upstairs & see his 2 smoking hot daughters who are my age.
"Hello ladies," I say, "Your pop just asked me to come up here to screw you two."
The daughter's laugh at me. "That's not true" they say.
I tell them I will prove it to them.
I yell down the stairs, "Both of them?"
The old man yells back, "Yes of course both of them!"

WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO MICHAEL JACKSON'S CHIMP BUBBLES?
Reposted by Marion Pellicano Ambrose
With all the discussion surrounding the shocking death of Michael Jackson, people have wondered whatever happened to his beloved chimpanzee Bubbles. It turns out, the chimp is alive and well and monkeying around in a Florida primate sanctuary, PEOPLE has learned.
The 26-year old chimp, who lived with Jackson in the late 1980s, has spent the past four years at the Center For Great Apes, home to forty-two chimpanzees and orangutans.
"He's a very sweet and nice chimp, he really is," says sanctuary director Patti Ragan. "I've seen him go to the drinking fountain, start to take a sip of water and then, when he hears one of the younger ones coming, he'll step back and let them have a sip."
Bubbles was born at a facility in Texas that breeds primates for medical testing before Jackson adopted him in the '80s. The chimp arrived at Ragan's sanctuary -- which is not open to the public -- in 2005 after the singer's former animal trainer discontinued working with primates. Not long afterwards, a rep for Jackson contacted the facility, saying that Michael wanted to come and visit his former buddy. But the singer never made the trip.
Over the years, Bubbles has grown into a good-sized adult, and now weighs 160 lbs. His facial features have also changed since his days when he often romped around with Jackson in matching Western outfits. "That pink baby face of his has disappeared," Ragan says. "He still has a lot of fleshy color in his face. But he's a huge guy now and that probably is going to surprise a lot of people."
These days, he spends his time hanging out with a group of six other chimps. Among his favorite things to do: eating sweet potatoes, listening to flute-and-guitar music, painting and kicking back with longtime buddy Sam, 40. "The two of them like to climb up to the top of a cupola (located on the sanctuary grounds) and just sit there, staring out over the orange groves, watching the traffic in the distance," says Ragan. "He loves being up there."
And the chimpanzee hasn't been told of his former owner's recent death. "We haven't said anything to him yet," she says, adding that his mood over the past few days has been typically chimp-like: "He's been his usual self, interacting with friends, eating well, taking cover when it rains."
Ragan says it's not yet known if Jackson stipulated that any money from his estate would be used to support Bubbles, who could easily live to the age of 60. To this date, his care has come from solely from public donations.

REVERSE PIN TO SUMMON POLICE : FALSE - WICKED RUMOR!!!
The following email is being passed along at the speed of light! DON'T BE FOOLED!
It claims that you can verify on SNOPES, so DRL checked it out. THIS IS FALSE!
http://www.snopes.com/business/bank/pinalert.asp
According to Wikipedia:
"The concept of an alternative emergency PIN system, or duress code, for ATM systems has been around since at least July 30, 1986, when Representative Mario Biaggi, a former police officer, proposed it in the U.S. Congressional Record, pp. 18232 et seq. Biaggi then proposed House Resolution 785 in 1987 which would have had the FBI track the problem of express kidnappings and evaluate the idea of an emergency PIN system. HR785 died in committee without debate"
Here is a copy of the FALSE email that is circulating:
"REGARDING :THE RECENT TRAGEDY OF A YOUNG WOMAN BEING KIDNAPPED AND EVENTUALLY KILLED; AFTER SHE HAD REPEATEDLY GIVEN THE KIDNAPPER A WRONG PIN TO HER ATM CARD. IF SHE KNEW THE METHOD BELOW, SHE COULD HAVE BEEN SAVED. SO WE THINK IT IS IMPORTANT ENOUGH TO LET YOU KNOW.
IF YOU SHOULD EVER BE FORCED BY A ROBBER TO WITHDRAW MONEY FROM AN ATM MACHINE, YOU CAN NOTIFY THE POLICE BY ENTERING YOUR PIN # IN REVERSE.
FOR EXAMPLE IF YOUR PIN NUMBER IS 1234 THEN YOU WOULD PUT IN 4321.
THE ATM RECOGNIZES THAT YOUR PIN NUMBER IS BACKWARDS FROM THE ATM CARD YOU PLACED IN THE MACHINE. THE MACHINE WILL STILL GIVE YOU THE MONEY YOU REQUESTED, BUT UNKNOWN TO THE ROBBER; THE POLICE WILL BE IMMEDIATELY DISPATCHED TO HELP YOU.THIS INFORMATION WAS RECENTLY BROADCAST ON FOX TV AND IT STATES THAT IT IS SELDOM USED BECAUSE PEOPLE DON'T KNOW IT EXISTS.PLEASE PASS THIS ALONG. You can go to snopes to verify. "

The best advice Police give to avoid being forced to withdraw from your ATM is to avoid using the machines at night. Go inside the bank whenever possible. Do not count your money as you're walking to your car. If you must use the ATM, scan the area carefully. It's best not to go to an ATM alone. Bring a spouse of friend ( a BIG one, I say!) . Stay alert and aware of your surroundings and other people in the area. If it should happen that you are held at gunpoint, comply. Your life is worth more than what you have in your account!

THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY

If exercise is so much fun, why is it called "working out?"
If you eat pizza in the forest and no one sees you, do the calories till count?
Drinking lots of water is suppose to help you lose weight. You'll burn fat just running to the bathroom all day long.

For this week's He Said I am not challenging Dawn's She Said or vice versa.
I couldn't agree more with Dawn.
I have a neighbor who has 3 daughters all under 13.... the youngest being 6 or 7.... and all 3 of these girls dress more dangerously than my wife!
Bikini's that barely cover what they're covering.
In Dawn's post she asks where the parents of these kids are. In this case the parents are right there with the kids! The mother walks around the neighborhood in her bikini, botox, and silicone while daddy has his fake tan and takes more HGH than Roger Clemens! Sorry pal but our time has passed... we are parents now. We're not hip no matter how much you try not to be. You just look foolish and your kids look like trash.
Dawn also asks if we've let "choose your battles" become an easy way out. I know a mother who laughs when her kid tells other adults to shut up, among other rude comments. She's a single mother so she "chooses her battles" since he doesn't have daddy around. Give me a break! I didn't have daddy around & I was yelled at every day! Yes I did deserve it... and so does this kid! Choose your battles.... give me a break. Yelling at my son has become part of my daily routine!
I don't know Dawn... how did we get here? Did we dress like this when we were that age? Do Dawn and I sound like crotchety old people?

Every year our church has a festival. It lasts for two weeks. Everyone from town goes. Last year my daughter was injured at the festival and we will not be going again...ever again. This is in part due to her fear of seeing the Zipper and my fear of exposing my children to what I would refer to as Kids Gone Wild.
Kids Gone Wild are girls between 11-14. They have NO reason to be wearing the clothes or shall I say the LACK of clothing. They have their navel's pierced. They flaunt themselves with the top button of their already too small shorts open exposing even more of their thong underwear.
What is going on people? Where are the parents of these CHILDREN? How did they get passed the front door without being told to about face and put some damn clothes on? What would be the necessity of purchasing a little girl thong underwear?
How did we get here? Why are we letting these kids grow up so fast? Why are we afraid of our own kids? Have we let that "choose your battles" become an easy out? Why are we creating little monsters that will eventually become worse then we could imagine?
Nothing good will come of your 11 year old feeling sexy in thong underwear....MAKE A CHANGE!

The father of five children had won a toy at a raffle.
He called his kids together to ask which one should have the present.
"Who is the most obedient?" he asked.
"Who never talks back to mother? Who does everything she says?"
Five small voices answered in unison. "Okay, dad, you get the toy."

THE VICIOUS CYCLE
He leaves the toilet seat up, she leaves makeup all over the counter. He never keeps his promise to help with the laundry; she constantly cheats on her diet and then complains about being fat. If these are some of the things that are happening at your house, then odds are one or both of you may find yourself turning into a nag.
According to the free online dictionary (http://www.thefreedictionary.com/nagging ) the definition of nagging is:
nag
v. nagged, nag·ging, nags
v.tr.
1. To annoy by constant scolding, complaining, or urging.
2. To torment persistently, as with anxiety or pain.
v.intr.
1. To scold, complain, or find fault constantly: nagging at the children.
2. To be a constant source of anxiety or annoyance: The half-remembered quotation nagged at my mind.
n.
One who nags.
When your spouse or significant other falls short of your expectations, your response may be to remind, scold, complain, and whine. Why do we think that doing these things will make the other person want to do what we want? Let’s face it, the more you nag, the less likely a person is to do whatever you are nagging them to do! Nagging just doesn’t work! Not only that, but it can become a vicious cycle. You nag; your partner withdraws so you nag even more. This is unhealthy for any relationship.
Think of how nagging affects your partner. It makes him or her resentful and defensive. It makes you seem like the parent and your partner the child. That’s both insulting and degrading for your partner. When you nag, you’re voicing criticism and disapproval. That can make anyone feel inadequate and like he or she is being attacked personally.
How do you get out of this cycle of nagging? First, try not to use words like “You should…” or “You never…” Try asking instead of telling. “Honey, would you please …” or “Will you…” Don’t try to manipulate or make your partner feel lazy or stupid. Make sure your tone and words are not such that your partner will take it as an attack. Never lecture or bring up past events. Try sharing your feelings without blame or accusation. Make sure you are following through on your responsibilities and promises if you expect the same of your partner.
Finally, show appreciation when your partner does those things you would have nagged him or her about. Compliment them, smile, give a hug or kiss to show you notice. Remember what grandma used to say: “You get more flies with honey than with vinegar.” Your partner will be much more likely to do whatever the task is consistently without nagging and with a little appreciation for a job well done.

LOSE WEIGHT BY MEDITATING 5 MINUTES A DAY!
Marion Pellicano Ambrose
I was watching Dr. Oz today while writing for DRL. I had to stop writing because I was so engrossed in the program. His guest today was Deepak Chopra, the Guru of Alternative Health and Meditation.
Deepak Chopra’s message today was that we can actually lose weight using meditation. He says people eat for 2 reasons: physical hunger and emotional hunger. It’s emotional hunger that causes us to gain weight.
Deepak Chopra said that meditation can bring your metabolism up and it becomes self-regulating in a homeostasis state, which is where everything is unaffected by what is going on outside of your body, so you lose weight. Dr. Oz said that if you are chronically stressed, the hormones from the Fight or Flight phenomenon get trapped in your body and make you gain belly fat. If you meditate, your hormones are soothed and you do not get to this state. Deepak Chopra also said that meditation increases your telomeres. (A telomere is a region of repetitive DNA sequence at the end of a chromosome, which protects the end of the chromosome from deterioration or from fusion with neighboring chromosomes. The telomere regions deter the degradation of genes near the ends of chromosomes Wikipedia.com) If cells divided without telomeres, they would lose the ends of their chromosomes, and the necessary information they contain. In the first steps of this meditation, sit in a relaxed posture; put your attention on your heart, and experience gratitude and love. When you do this, the neurons in the emotional section of your brain begin to fire. So, in this step, we are wiring together our neurons for emotional happiness.
Next, focus on questions like “who am I? And what makes me happy? “This activates the pre-frontal cortex which is in charge of cognition and our thoughts, so we are re-wiring the synapses there.
After that, scan your body for sensations, which stimulates the part of your brain where you monitor experiences. Finally, you pull your attention to your heartbeat in your fingers and it is amazing that by doing that you actually increase your blood flow to your hands and your blood pressure drops by 10 points. The more you do this, the more you lower your blood pressure. You can actually learn to regulate your heart beat and to change your body temperature too. Deepak said that you are overwriting your mid-brain by doing this.
I’ve attached the directions posted on Dr. Oz’s page for this meditation. It takes only 5 minutes a day, but Dr. Oz says many of his patients have actually lost weight simply by doing this meditation. How about giving it a try? Be sure and let us know how it goes! I’ll be trying it myself so wish me luck!
Dr. Oz: Weight Loss Meditation
Here are the steps that Deepak Chopra walked everyone through to do a Weight Loss Meditation on the Dr. Oz Show.
1. Put your feet firmly on the ground so that they do not cross.
2. Put your hands on your lap with your palms facing up.
3. Close your eyes and pay attention to your heart.
4. Experience gratitude by thinking of blessings and counting your blessings. Be grateful for everything good in your life. Let your ego move out of the way.
5. Recall an experience of love like someone you love or someone who loves you.
6. Keep your attention on your heart and ask yourself a few questions like the following: Who Am I? Do not try to figure out the answer, just let your heart answer and guide you. What do I want? What is my purpose? What makes me happy?
7. Observe all of the sensations in your body. This step is all about simple awareness of your body. Bring awareness into your breathe and breathe air in through your nostrils. Observe as the air moves in and out. As you take a breath in, think of the word “so” and as you breathe out, think of the word “hum.” When your mind starts to wander, this is normal, just bring it back to “so” on your in breathe and “hum” on your out breath.
8. Keep your eyes closed and keep your attention on your heart. Focus on sensing your heart beat as either a sound or a sensation.
9. Move your awareness into your open hands and finger tips. See if you can sense your heartbeat in your fingertips as a warm, tingling sensation or mild throbbing.
10. Bring awareness back to your heart and relax your body. Yawn, move, or stretch if you want. Take half a minute and gently open your eyes.
