FOR HER SON,  JOE!!

It is with great joy I write to tell our readers that Governor Scott has just become Saint Rick to the "Pellicano Ambrose Family"! Because of his intervention, Marion's son has his Social Security back, but that’s only part of the story!  Marion's conclusion to Mother's Anguish will run next week with full details.  

Having personally dealt with the Social Security Administration for my own son since 2003 and for my husband for the past five years... having had numerous issues and problems to appeal, fix and over turn, I know that it often feels like the wheels of progress  in this arena practically turn in reverse. The speed at which this re-establishment of benefits is nothing short of a prayer induced "miracle"!

Many  continue to inquire about Marion and her family.  We are thrilled to share the first glimmer of hope that resolution has begun as reported by Marion below.  If you are new to the lounge or Marion's story, the links to the previously posted articles can be found here too. 

We at DRL continue to hold onto faith that this injustice will very soon be corrected.  We ask that you continue to offer prayers to support Marion and give her strength.  

Many thanks to those of you who have offered to make donations.  Dawn and I, with Marion's blessing and help, are still researching how to set up a fund or account for Joe to use for legal costs and/or other expenses incurred by him as a result of his loss of benefits.

A MOTHER' ANGUISH - Update - Part II

FINALLY A GLIMMER OF HOPE...

Thank you Governor Scott! I received a response asking me to have my son get in touch with a member of the staff of the Bureau Chief of Program Operations, Florida Department of Health, Division of Disability Determinations. Do I dare get my hopes up? I can’t help it. This is our first sign of hope.


I’d like to thank everyone for their continued prayers and support, especially RM who had been so kind, and my friends at DRL who have become like my second family! I hope I will have good news to share with you all soon!

Dear DRL Readers,

I wish I had better news to share, but I’m afraid things aren’t going so well with my son. Having his Social Security taken away has pushed him into a full manic episode and no matter what I do, I can’t reason with him. I’ve contacted everyone I could think of, Governor Scott, Florida’s Representatives, lawyers, advocacy organizations, even the psychologist who saw my son for SS. I haven’t received an answer from anyone but Gov. Scott, who merely sent an automatic reply that he received my email.

Should Social security benefits for the mentally ill or disabled be able to be revoked by one session with one doctor or therapist who works for the social security administration???

Our own DRL family member is dealing with this exact issue.  Read Mothers Anguish by Marion Pellicano Ambrose.  I myself have been fighting with the Social Security Administartion for my disabled son since 2002 and for my husband since 2005.  

How do you fix a broken system??? How do you rally to help those with justified needs that have been revoked???  Kindly submit your answers, suggestion and or comments here!

How can life be so unfair? I know I promised to try and be positive but times like this make it impossible!


My adopted son is Bi-Polar and has Intermittent Explosive Disorder. His birth mother is mildly mentally retarded and his birth father was a cocaine addict and also Bi-Polar. My first husband died in the line of duty when my son was 15 months old. My son received a death benefit until age 18 when it turned into a disability benefit. He suffered through
dozens of hospitalizations, various drug trials, counseling, behavior modification, special ed and whatever else we could find to help him. He tried several times to work at a job. It always started out well, he was polite and hard working, but then he would cycle and become aggressive, caustic, abusive and careless. Coworkers didn’t want to be near him. Employers were afraid of him. Back to square one!
