WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU THANKFUL FOR???

Dawn Boyle

Over the past few weeks I have posted things about Thanksgiving and the holidays. I have also wrote about my constant bitching, and my issues I have with my kids, husband, and ass.

I have wrote about a Thankful Tree that you can make for your home so your kids can write each day about what they are thankful for. I have shared recipes and also spoke about my disdain for bullying and the apparent demise of our youth through the Internet.

After all is said and done, I wanted to share what I am thankful for and excited about for the holiday season and the upcoming year....Sometimes I come across as a jokester, not here - not now. I am going to be as serious as possible (for those who think I am funny).

In the past 12 months I turned 40. I gained back way too much of the weight I lost. I have gotten more and more in debt. I have done only one improvement to my home - a new roof, and that was a necessity, not luxury. I still can't stand my dog, who is turning 4 this month and is still peeing and crapping in the house after being out for 20 minutes. My love life needs a tune up and my kids need a tune down. I still have someone sleeping in my bed and have two cell-phones for two kids that do not use them. I installed a motherboard in my daughters computer months ago but not the battery. My closets are a mess, every room needs to be painted and I despise the 70's wrought iron railing that EVERYONE sees when they walk into my house.

ALL THAT BEING SAID.....I have a wonderful family. My brother and sister-in-law had a baby girl in June and I get to spend three days a week with her. She might be the best baby in the history of babies. I think I have only heard her cry twice...seriously - twice! Although we have been through A LOT, my husband and I are getting along and I am striving to take that up a notch. I have to live by the words "you get more bees with honey"...(is that even a saying??) our children are healthy, happy, and get along 49% of the time, which is a drastic improvement. They are both in the play Annie this year and spend most of their waking hours singing their hearts out. They have been doing private training for the past few weeks and seem to be enjoying it. My parents are healthy and together with us almost every weekend. Greg's parents are doing awesome too! We are very lucky to have them all around. My niece and daughter will be making their communion (along with countless cousins) in the Spring and we have lots of parties to look forward to. We are very lucky to have outstanding relationships with our siblings and genuinely try to get out together as much as possible. We have wonderful things we anticipate this upcoming year including a particular wedding that I can't wait for! I am happy to have mended friendships and removed toxic people from my life. I am thankful for my life, my health, my family, my friends and most of all I am thankful that we here at DRL have such a great team. We are so much more than co-creators, writers, behind the scenes people - we are a family.

Thanks for being my husband, daughter, mother, father, sibling, cousin, aunt, uncle, grandmother, niece, friend, pal, neighbor, and reader! Let's cheers for a wonderful Thanksgiving and getting the lead out, so in 2012 we can all be kick ass!!!
