THE PET PYTHON

Marion Pellicano Ambrose

Jose is from the Philippines. He moved to the US when he was 16 years old. There are many things he forgets about his native land, but there is one story he will remember until the day he dies: The story of his cousin Skye.

Skye was young, single and independent. She was what you would also call eccentric. She loved living close to nature and she especially loved snakes. She loved them so much that when she found a baby Python in a local pet store, she decided to buy it and keep it as a pet. She adored her little snake, and fed it only the choicest morsels: first tiny mice then larger rats as the Python grew. Skye allowed the snake to sleep in her bed. It curled up in a coil next to her for warmth and she felt that it showed her true affection. As time went on, she and her Python seemed quite content.

One day Skye woke up to find her 6 foot Python stretched out against her body. “He must be cold” she thought, and put another blanket on the bed. After that he stopped eating. Days went by and he often repeated the behavior of stretching out against her, and still would not eat.

Finally, she decided to call the vet fearing her beloved pet was ill. The Vet had an answer for her right away.  “Get away from the Python and call animal control to come and take it away in a cage.”
Skye couldn’t believe her ears. “Why?” she asked. “This is my pet. I love him.”
“Because,” answered the vet, “He’s stretching against you to size you up. He stopped eating because you will be a large meal that will nourish him for weeks and he has to make room for you! He’s getting ready to eat you Skye!”

Animal Control arrived within the hour and took the python away. As far as Jose knows, Skye is still young, single, independent, and has no pets whatsoever!

WANNA LAUGH?!?!?!

Boyle was shopping at the grocery store last week getting ready for Easter. She was picking through the turkeys but couldn't find one big enough for all the family that was getting together for the holiday.
She asks a stock boy, "Do these turkeys get any bigger?
"No maam, they're dead."

HE SAID....

There is a guy I know who is a local musician here on Long Island. He plays in many bands. I've known this guy for around 20 years. This guy is a jerk. Pompous and rude.  By coincidence my wife knew this guy before my wife and I knew each other. She used to see him play in a band.

Here's the reason this fits into a He Said Post.... my wife agrees that this guy is a jerk and she thinks he is pretty ugly BUT she is attracted to him because he plays in a band!!!  WTF??!!!  I know plenty of women who think that way about someone. "He's sexy because he's up on stage!" WHAT??? He's sexy because he is holding a guitar??? He's sexy because he's singing some top forty song that he actually doesn't even like??

Can you ladies explain this to me???

There are plenty of guys who can't sing but are the nicest guys in the world! But the jerk gets the girl because he holds a guitar?

What about the guy swinging a hammer?
What about the guy driving a truck?
What about the guy doing comedy?? (That last one is me. I want groupies damnit!!! LOL)

STICKY SWEET

THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY

"Warning: I have PMS and I'm all out of chocolate."

"The world would be a better place if everyone was as sweet as Chocolate."

"If you've got melted chocolate all over your hands, you're eating it too slowly."

"God sends no stress that prayer and chocolate cannot handle!"

LUNCH TIME POLL - Party of Three

Jillian B Hart

A 'threesome" is something many fantasize about.  Perhaps many more then are even willing to admit  to thinking about it.  A threesome is NOT like regular sex.  It will require trust, imagination and sensitivity.

Is it something you really want? How do you get your lover to agree?
If agreeing to cross this line...
Are there rules?
Limits?
How would comfort, trust, and respect factor in?
What about jealousy?
Would you give as much as you want to get?
Can a threesome really be just pleasure and experimentation or will it permanently alter your relationship forever?
Is this different for a man and a woman?

If you were to invite someone else into your bedroom with you and your lover, how would the ménage à trois add up?

FFF- All ladies...
FFM - Two girls & a guy
MMF - Two guys & a girl
MMM - Men's club, no girls allowed

The Good Girl's Weight Loss Secret

A couple of years ago I lost about 15 pounds. It was a noticeable weight loss on my 5'4" frame. I lost count of how often I was asked how I did it. I usually vaguely replied that I had been sick with some stomach thing. Secretly I was tempted to give them the actual reason and say it in my chirpiest voice: "Why, it's crippling depression....but I don't recommend it for everyone." There was an irony that the time in my life when I got the most compliments was also the darkest. Friends, acquaintances and even strangers seemed almost eager to tell me how great I looked.

At any other time fitting into a smaller size would have made me very happy. However, I was the most miserable that I had ever been in my life. My marriage fell apart as we were approaching our tenth anniversary. I went into a depression that seemed to envelope me. Every day was endless and insurmountable. Everything seemed meaningless, especially food. I just couldn't eat. My appetite was gone. I lost weight without intending to. Spend entire weekends in bed without hardly getting up and exist on an English muffin a day and you can, too. Not the right way to shed pounds by any stretch of the imagination.

I read with interest Barbara's very honest posting of struggling to make sense of why bad things happen (What Matters). Her faith gave her the strength to see that sometimes life doesn't make sense and there's no logic with tragedy. My experience showed me that some times life can just suck. And then when you think it can't suck any worse, somehow it does. I would feel like I had fought my way out of a deep dark hole only to have the ground give out underneath me and fall right back down.

It took a long time to fight my way back to "normal." I discovered a strength and support system I didn't know I had. It still moves me to tears the compassion I found in my friends and family.

The weight came back on eventually, plus a little more. And I was okay with it. I thought it was part of the healing process, proof I was getting better. My emotional health seemed more important than my jean size. It's a lesson I always keep close to remind myself when weight concerns creep in. We are so much more than the numbers on the bathroom scale or on our clothes. Those numbers don't define us, don't represent who we truly are. Where our bodies curve or don't curve doesn't reflect what is in our hearts and in our minds. Numbers are only important if we make them. My happiness doesn't depend on my waist size. It comes from within and no arbitrary number should take that away.

SOUL FOOD

Barbara Ward-Finneran

At times goals may seem unattainable or out of reach. Days may slip by without your feeling or seeing tangible progress. You cannot consent your body to quitting when your soul yearns to soar. Focus and foster postive thoughts. Hold fast to the faith in yourself. Faith is believing when it is beyond the power of reason to believe. It means daring to imagine or embrace the unfathomable. Believe in yourself and ANYTHING is POSSIBLE!

Keep the promises that you make to yourself!

EAT PRAY LOVE

Tony Walker

How many of you saw the movie "Eat Pray Love?"
From what I knew of the movie it didn't seem like the kind of movie I would like but in trying to score with my wife I agreed to watch it with her when she rented it last week.
I was right. I didn't like it.
I'd see it again just because Julia Roberts looks fantastic but otherwise I thought it was awful. This is where I get into the premise of the movie so if you wanna see this but haven't, I am about to ruin it. You've been warned.
Julia Roberts plays a well renowned author, Liz Gilbert. She is known and makes super money but doesn't have much luck with men and is unsatisfied with her life. So she drops everything and decides to go to Italy, India, then Bali for some spiritual knowledge and to find herself.
She goes to these countries and not a single bad thing happens to her. She makes wonderful friends, stays at the most beautiful places, and once in Bali she falls in love with a man and they end up happily ever after.
Are you kidding???
My problem with this movie is that so many women (maybe men too but I've heard women talk about this movie) will identify with this movie. "I would LOVE to go to those places!" Give me a break!
First off, she is a big time author with a ton of money. I know money can't buy happiness but come on! How many of you would LOVE to have a cool job like a well known author? Hey Liz! Try flipping burgers all day! Be grateful you get to do what you love and express yourself through your writings!
How many women who saw this movie are now thinking of ways to pack up and take an extensive vacation like she took to all those wonderful places???
Yes you too will go to these places and make a million friends and not have a single problem! You won't suffer from loneliness! You won't get sick! You won't wander into any "bad parts of town" and only find beautiful sunsets! You will meet wonderful, sexy men who will sweep you off your feet!
I'm sorry. I just find all this supposed spiritual journeys to be a bunch of crap. You have issues with yourself, running away to all these places won't get you away from you! Plus the fact that most of us can't afford to take off for months like this character did.
Look at one of my favorite women-the beautiful Jennifer Copp. She didn't leave her girls to go "find herself." She came home and found ways to make the best of some negative situations by taking advantage of positive surroundings and being close to family and friends. She appears to be in a good place and very happy. She didn't run away. Julia Roberts should have made the "Jenn Copp Story!"
What do you guys think? Did you see the movie? Have you ever gone on extended trips in hopes of finding yourself?

LUNCH TIME POLL

"Egyptian-born doctor and surgeon Ayman al-Zawahri is al Qaeda's second-in-command expected to succeed Osama bin Laden following his killing in a firefight with U.S. forces in Pakistan. Zawahri has been the brains behind bin Laden and his al Qaeda network, and at times its most public face, repeatedly denouncing the United States and its allies in video messages."

We do not know the whereabouts of al-Zawahri.

Should we fear retaliation for killing bin Laden?
Will you be taking extra steps to secure your safety?
What are your thoughts?
