LUNCH TIME POLL

Dawn Boyle

As usual time has escaped me... today I have to make the mad dash out for the end of the year teach gifts. My daughters suggested Kohls and Target as places they have heard all four of their teachers talking about. I am wondering if any of our "teacher readers" out there would suggest a good place to go get the giftcards.

LUNCH TIME POLL

Dawn Boyle

A New Jersey School has banned photographs of students from their school being posted on ANY social media network. This is to avoid a number of issues we now face in this sexting, bullying, harassment world we are now living in.

Do you feel this is a smart move or does it take away from our freedom?

LUNCH TIME POLL...

Summer is almost officially here.  In many places it has already arrived with the heat or the fact that school is out.  With all it's fabulousness - summer come with a price,  less is more!  This is essentially true of clothing.
What does this season do to your body confidence? Is there anything worse then shopping for a swimsuit?
Except perhaps in a whole different way - the view of someone in a swim suit that they have no business wearing.  Does swimsuit season leave you longing for the freezing?

Do men have these issues?
Where would you rate your body confidence?
Do you dread wearing a swim suit?  Pretty confident? No cover up needed?
Somewhere in between?
Is it all really about size and curves - or does attitude matter?
What do you think about stripping down when the temp goes up? How does the view at the beach or the pool effect you?

LUNCH TIME POLL... RATINGS Vs. RACIAL

Last week NBC star Tracy Morgan went on a rant about how he would react if his son told him he was gay during a Nashville show.

"Better talk to me like a man and not in a gay voice or I'll pull out a knife and stab that little n**ger to death."

Will this rant affect 30 ROCK ratings?

When a comedian uses racial and/or hate crime words is it to be excused?

If it's part of a show does it not count?

LUNCH TIME POLL

ABC news recently reported that 5% of children under the age of two now have a Facebook page.  There are also documented pages for unborn children created by their parents.  A playful way for parents to keep friends and family up to date on pregnancy and toddler news or an invitation to trouble?

"According to recent polls, over 7.5 million American kids are under age 13 have Facebook pages, and over five million are under age ten. The New York Times reported in March of this year that 3.6 million of Facebook's 153 million monthly visitors in the U.S. are under 12."

Minors of all ages are all over the pages of this world dominating social network. They are exposed to fun games and tons of harmless fun as well as adult level conversations, posts and jokes.  Are minor children capable of handling the social situations and dangers present on social networking sites?

Social networking is here to stay.  Many parents are in denial or due to lack of know how are not actively participating in their kids internet usage. Kids are going to make mistakes and it is the responsibility of the adults in a household to monitor the internet use in their home.

At what age do you think social networking is appropriate?

Do you have minor children on Facebook?

Do you monitor their internet activity, social networking related or otherwise?

Editor's Note: Facebook's Official Policy:
http://www.facebook.com/policy.php

"If you are under 13, please do not attempt to register for Facebook or send any information about yourself to us, including your name, address, telephone number, or email address. No one under age 13 may provide any personal information to or on Facebook. In the event that we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under age 13 without verification of parental consent, we will delete that information as quickly as possible. If you believe that we might have any information from or about a child under 13, please contact us at
info@facebook.com "

Facebook adds:
"We recommend that minors over the age of 13 ask their parents for permission before sending any information about themselves to anyone over the Internet."

LUNCH TIME POLL - WEINERGATE

Technology has opened up a new can of worms when it comes to cheating.
"You're not stalking me, I am stalking you" - that was the answer given to 26 year old Meagan Broussard by Congressman Weiner when she questioned him about their online sexting relationship.

When does Internet chit chat and flirting turn into a scandalous event? Weiner has confessed to having at least 6 online relationships within the past three years.

Mr. Weiner apologized to his wife and to all of us stating that he would not be resigning.

So here we go again...there will be an Ethics Hearing and this will cost all of us how much??? All for some pervert to contact young women through facebook and twitter.

What do you think?  Does sexting while in office warrant someone to be removed from office?

Is sexting cheating??? Is an online relationship without physical contact cheating???

What will be next? This morning I was watching the news and heard that if you use your cell phone for more then 30 minutes a day that you might get brain cancer....this new study says that you should never have the phone closer then a few inches away from your head or use earphones. Don't let children play with phones either.

Will this study make you change your cell phone use?

LUNCH TIME POLL - WHAT'S SHAKIN

Dawn Boyle

Today's Lunch Time Poll could verge on What's Shakin for the day as well...

Last night was the American Idol Finale, a number of artists performed and Scotty McCreery won the title. For me the best part of the entire show was the performance by Marc Anthony with Sheila E. on the drums. I love Latin Music, it's intoxicating. I makes you want to move. Jennifer Lopez was incredible! Her dancing make me want to look into some Latin dance classes!

What was your favorite part of the finale last night?

Do you think McCreery should have been the winner?

Are you over Gaga yet?

Who was your favorite performer?

LUNCH TIME POLL

Dawn Boyle

Today starts off CLICK IT OR TICKET which runs from May 23 til June 5, 2011 .

Click It or Ticket (CIOT) is the most successful seat belt enforcement campaign ever, helping create the highest national seat belt usage rate of 85 percent. Coast to coast, day or night, the message is simple - Click It or Ticket.

2011 CIOT National Mobilization - The cornerstone of NHTSA's seat belt communications program is the national Click It or Ticket May Mobilization. The primary audience continues to be men ages 18 to 34, which research shows are less likely to wear seat belts.

In this day and age are there still people who do not wear a seat belt?

What makes them take the chance?

Have you ever received a ticket for no seat belt?

LUNCH TIME POLL

A man grabs the 22 year-old woman just after she jumps. After grabbing the girl by the neck, the man tries to pull her in by her arms.Men in the apartment below attempt to help by pushing the jilted bride up by her feet.Rescue efforts were successful and the woman was taken to a hospital.

Did you hear this today???

Devastated Li-Wan sat sobbing on a window ledge 80ft up in Changchun, eastern China, just hours after partner Wang Lu left her at the alter. As she jumped to certain death,  Guo Zhongfan managed to catch her and hold her dangling by the neck above the drop.

The jilted bride is okay. Guo Zhongfan is a hero. Wang Lu is an ass.

I say this woman was saved twice that day....once by the hero and another by some higher power that let her escape marrying someone who is obviously not  in love with her.

Have you ever called off a wedding?

Have you been left at the altar?

Do you think some people want to call off the wedding but are too afraid?

Vent here today!!!

"So we finish 18 and he's gonna stiff me. And I say, 'Hey, Lama! Hey! How about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know.' And he says, 'Oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness.' So I got that going for me, which is nice."

LUNCH TIME POLL

Dawn Boyle

First I would like to clear up the mystery behind the picture...even though we already did do a LTP and the answer was revealed "what is the LTP picture", it is a picture of Heather Chandler from the movie Heathers. It happens to be one of my all time favorites and in the the movie the "Heathers" do a lunch time poll, the link is down below, beware of the language!

Today's Lunch Time Poll is...
not only a poll but a reminder of sorts!

SUNDAY IS MOTHERS DAY...I know for some of our readers this is shocking but I will say it anyway...EVEN THOUGH YOUR WIFE OR SPOUSE IS NOT YOUR MOTHER, SHE IS THE MOTHER TO YOUR CHILDREN...which means get something - a card, a plant...give her an hour to herself! (IF YOU DO NOT HAVE CHILDREN YOU MAY HAVE A PET...SHE IS THE MOTHER OF THAT PET!!)

How will you be celebrating Mother's Day?

Do you receive gifts from your significant other on Mother's Day?

What was the best gift you ever received for Mother's Day?

LUNCH TIME POLL - HELL WEEK

Dawn Boyle

It's that time of year for us here in New York. It is ELA's this week, which are the State Tests given to elementary school children. When I was younger we had the IOWA Examinations. I remember them being no big deal. Now a days an entire school year is based on the ELA'S alone.

The pressure we put on our students and on the teacher is ridiculous. I have a few friends that their kids were a bundle of nerves for these tests. I have told my kids from the beginning that all they have to do is their best, it is no baring on their actual grade at all.

It is Hell Week for you?
Does every school participate in some kind of State testing?
Do you feel that these tests are completely useless?

Share your thoughts with us!

LUNCH TIME POLL

Dawn Boyle

We have discussed Ghosts in Paranormal Pub and you have taken the poll which leads us to believe that you DO think there are Ghosts and other paranormal phenomena. Today's Lunch Time Poll, we ask you if you believe in U.F.O's and aliens.

It would be naive of us to think we are ALONE and that there isn't anybody out there! There are a number of sites on the web that are dedicated to sightings. They talk about an influx of sightings since the Tsunami last month.

Below are two YouTube video's. Take a look and let us know what you think...

Do you believe in U.F.O's and Aliens?

Have you ever seen one?
