JOSE IS COMING AND HE'S NOT ALONE

Marion Pellicano Ambrose

The National Weather Service warns that Irene was not alone! Here comes Jose and he is followed by two more areas of low pressure. One has a very high chance of developing into a tropical cyclone in the next 48 hours. Keep your eye on the tropics throughout this hurricane season, which is predicted to be an active one. Could we have another major hurricane so soon?
With everything else that’s been happening all around the world lately, nothing would surprise me!

Tropical Storm Jose:
THE CENTER OF TROPICAL STORM JOSE WAS
LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 35.0 NORTH...LONGITUDE 65.5 WEST. JOSE IS
MOVING TOWARD THE NORTH NEAR 21 MPH...33 KM/H. A TURN TOWARD THE
NORTH-NORTHEAST IS EXPECTED BY MONDAY MORNING...WITH A GRADUAL TURN TOWARD THE NORTHEAST FORECAST TO OCCUR BY MONDAY NIGHT.
MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 40 MPH...65 KM/H...WITH HIGHER
GUSTS. GRADUAL WEAKENING IS FORECAST DURING THE NEXT 48 HOURS...AND
JOSE IS EXPECTED TO BECOME A POST-TROPICAL REMNANT LOW PRESSURE
SYSTEM BY TUESDAY MORNING.
TROPICAL-STORM-FORCE WINDS EXTEND OUTWARD UP TO 45 MILES...75 KM
FROM THE CENTER.
ESTIMATED MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE IS 1008 MB...29.77 INCHES.

Yellow Circle:
AN ELONGATED AREA OF LOW PRESSURE...ASSOCIATED WITH THE REMNANTS OF TROPICAL DEPRESSION TEN...IS LOCATED ABOUT 750 MILES WEST-NORTHWEST OF THE NORTHERN CAPE VERDE ISLANDS. THIS SYSTEM IS DEVOID OF ANY SIGNIFICANT SHOWER ACTIVITY...AND STRONG UPPER-LEVEL WINDS ARELIKELY TO PREVENT ANY SIGNIFICANT DEVELOPMENT OF THIS LARGE
DISTURBANCE AS IT MOVES NORTHWESTWARD AT 10 TO 15 MPH. THIS SYSTEM
HAS A LOW CHANCE...NEAR 0 PERCENT...OF BECOMING A TROPICAL CYCLONE
DURING THE NEXT 48 HOURS.

Red Circle:

SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS HAVE CONTINUED TO BECOME BETTER ORGANIZED THIS EVENING IN ASSOCIATION WITH A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM LOCATED ABOUT 400 MILES SOUTH OF THE SOUTHERN CAPE VERDE ISLANDS.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS APPEAR CONDUCIVE FOR FURTHER DEVELOPMENT OF THIS LARGE DISTURBANCE...AND A TROPICAL DEPRESSION COULD FORM DURING THE NEXT DAY OR SO AS IT MOVES WESTWARD AT 10 T0 15 MPH.THIS SYSTEM HAS A HIGH CHANCE...NEAR 100 PERCENT...OF BECOMING A
TROPICAL CYCLONE DURING THE NEXT 48 HOURS.

UPDATE: tropical depression 12. will it become Hurricane KATIA?

Remember, no matter how violent the storm,
the sun will shine again and with it will come the sun!
