BOOK REVIEW

DO YOU BELIEVE IN GHOSTS?

Marion Pellicano Ambrose

Do you believe in ghosts? Spirits? Poltergeists? Well if you do or even if you don’t,
you’ll still enjoy Sylvia Browne’s new book Afterlives of the Rich and Famous!

I happen to be a believer. I’ve actually been to see Psychic Jeffrey Wands (of Maury
Povich and A&E fame and author of several books). There was no denying his accuracy
and detailed accounts of people in my life both alive and dead. As with most psychics
I’ve seen or read about, his approach was spiritual, and spoke of self improvement,
consolation and prayer. He was more help than a counselor in helping me get through the
death of loved ones.

Sylvia Browne writes about 40 or so famous people who have passed on. What I enjoyed
most was her excellent introduction where we are introduced to Francine, her spirit guide.
In the second part Sylvia, through the benefit of her degree in Theology, her own near
death experience, and the information from Francine, explains a vision of the afterlife
in great detail. After that comes a glossary where the reader becomes quite educated in
terms and definitions used by psychics and channelers.

The reminder of the book consists of brief biographies of people like Paul Newman,
Princess Diana, John Lennon, Marilyn Monroe, Bela Lugosi and more. After each
biography she tells her take on the star and then Francine’s story on how the person is
spending his or her afterlife. Some can be found “haunting” some of the old places they
loved while some were unprepared for their own deaths and are “secluded” for some
time. Some are happily involved in afterlife activities. You’ll have to read the book to
find out what kind of activities these are!

I have to say, I enjoyed the book. It was an easy read and I learned quite a bit of “New
Age” terminology. I suggest it be read with an open mind and without judgment. Whether
you believe what is written or not, you’ll certainly learn new facts about famous people
in the biography section! I can’t say I fully accept Sylvia’s philosophy. I was raised
Catholic and have strong beliefs of my own, but learning about new ideas and beliefs
only broadens our horizons and sometimes even strengthens our own faith!

So, do you believe? Have you had a psychic experience? I invite you to share your story
with us at the Delayed Reaction Lounge! Post a comment and tell us about it!
