She Said...

Dawn Boyle

In response to Tony's He Said this morning I can't disagree with you more. There is a new commercial out right now about some kind of feminine wash, the commercial goes something like, wars are waged over it, men die for it, countries are born over it....all the while they are talking about the power of "V". I think there is a clear difference between men and women. I believe that we think from different sides of the brain. I think that although we all (at some point) want sex, we want it in different ways. Yes, we talk trash in the bathroom or sitting around a table full of women, but the difference is, you guys DON'T want to hear that from women you are attracted to or trying to court. Right?

I think that once there is a level of comfort we might let out a burp or two by accident, but I know that my husband will look at me like I am a farm animal and get completely turned off. Here is the clue for you guys....we feel the same way about you getting all mushy during a movie. The boys want ladies and the girls want strong men to protect them. This is because of what we are trained to think we want from such an early age.

So society has made sure we are completely different. Seriously ladies do you want super sensitive guy?

SHE SAID..... DEFINITELY DIFFERENT!

HE SAID.... ARE WE DIFFERENT?
Absolutely, positively, definitely different!  Is that really a question?!  Thank God we are different.  Isn't that part of what keeps life interesting. Okay-- with it, with difference, comes it's fair share of challenges too. Yet - too much the same is just overrated, BORING!

Instead of "different"... aren't we two halves that create balance.  Like what day is to night and night is to day.  Beautifully different, yet one cannot be appreciated without the other.  This duality when correctly combined is what can stimulate peace and harmony.  In the time of basic man and woman when the human race began, (and until more recent history,) - there was no questioning the duality or the roles.  They just were - and they were accepted.  For a very long time none thought one superior or more important, but, they were two parts that made a whole picture.  There was an appreciation, perhaps non-spoken, of the mutually supportive roles of the man and the women. Together they created family and function within their corner of the world.

Perhaps modern "man" has messed this up by blurring all the lines.  Somewhere along the line... two parts fitting together to make one complacent and balanced whole became a comparison and or competition of which role was more important or better.  Did that create "feelings" of the dominate and the oppressed?  Did that awareness of roles being lesser or more - separate rather then build?  Did that create a difficulty for smooth role reversal in situations where it should and could work? Did it force the stereotyping that Tony points out -- isn't as black and white, or day and night as it seems to be? Isn't there more accord when the pieces fit rather then fight for attention?

Yes, Tony, I believe we are "wired" differently... yet I will agree there are similarities. We all have our soft and hard side and attributes.  So whether talking one person, one pair, or one race, we need those differences and we need to value the sameness that can also be found.  Having a touch, or brush of the opposite whets your appetite for more of that - that is what helps the different pieces fit.

We need to get past the comparisons and instead value that one does not exist in all it's brilliance without the other.  How can you compare the day and the night?  They are each astonishingly different, amazingly beautiful in their own right, yet if it wasn't for the darkness would we appreciate the light? It is better not to scorn the differences but to be empowered by them.  To allow them to help bring out the best in you, using our differences to make ourselves the best sum of our parts, as a person, a pair or a race. To complement and balance the human equation and make it whole.  Make us whole in that way that we aren't whole alone.

WANNA LAUGH?!?!

HE SAID.... ARE WE DIFFERENT?

Tony Walker

Every Tuesday The Lovelies at The Lounge have the He Said/She Said feature. We get to see both sides of a particular topic. We get to see how the boys & girls differ from one another.

So this got me thinking.... why do the boys and girls have such different opinions? Or do they really??
We always hear girls are spice and everything nice. But we also hear that when girls go "powder their noses" they talk about the same raunchy crap that us guys talk about.
Us guys have some twisted view that we have to be macho all the time. Yet when our wife/girlfriends yell at us we cower down like the wimps that we really are.
Girls burp & fart just as much as us male slobs. Many guys enjoy a "chick flick" just as much as the girls.
What I am saying is that we are all the same. We're all the same dopes.... we all want some respect, we want to enjoy ourselves, and we wanna get laid. It's that simple.
Tell us what you think. Do you agree that we're all the same? If so, why do we pretend to be something else? Or do you think there are some major differences between boys and girls?

WANNA LAUGH?!?!

The Knob...
A woman visited a plastic surgeon who told her about a new procedure called 'The Knob,' where a small knob is placed at the top of the woman's head and could be turned to tighten up her skin and produce the effect of a brand new face-lift.

Of course, the woman wanted 'The Knob.'

Over the course of the years, the woman tightened the knob, and the effects were wonderful, the woman remained young looking and vibrant.

After fifteen years, the woman returned to the surgeon with two problems.  All these years, everything has been working just fine. I've had to turn the knob many times and I've
always loved the results. But now I've developed
two annoying problems: "First, I have these terrible bags under my eyes and the knob won't get rid of them."

The doctor looked at her closely and said, "Those aren't bags, those are your breasts."

She said, "Well, I guess there's no point in asking
about the goatee."

NO PAIN NO GAIN

THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY
Patty B

If exercise is so much fun, why is it called "working out?"

Fitness rhymes with witless. Coincidence?

If you eat pizza in the forest and no one sees you, do the calories still count?

Cast out your fat demon: have your own exercise-ism.

If God wanted me skinny, why did he invent stretch pants?

TRUE FAMILY...A SURPRISING LESSON

Tony Walker

What is the true meaning of the word family? Is family a parent, sibling, cousin, etc? Or is it your closest friends? Who do you rely on more? Who is the first person you turn to when you need something?
A buddy of mine was recently sick. His traditional family, the parents and siblings, were NOT there for him. For the first time in his life he asked for help. He didn't get much of it. He was so disappointed and let down. He said he now looks at his family in a much different light.
Another friend of mine is constantly fighting with her family. Her family does nothing but put her down. She recently had a scheduling issue with work where she needed someone to watch her kids for a little while before and after school. When you have something like that going on who do you turn to first? Your family right??? Well her own parents told her that she's crazy if she thinks they're going to watch her kids for her. Do you believe that???
This made me think. I hardly have anything to do with my extended family. I'd rather spend the Holidays with Salbo, Murph, and Boyle than my "real" family. Friends like them are my family as far as I'm concerned.
Tell us what you think. Almost everyone I know has a story about family. This one's fighting with that one over a will. This one is fighting with that one over who gets more attention. Blah blah blah. Do you have a story like this? Do you rely on friends more than family or is your family always there when you need them?

Happy Anniversary on the opening of Disney World! On October 1, 1971!

Marion Pellicano Ambrose

Walt’s dream of Disney World began long before 1971.  Early in 1959,  he began searching for a location on the east coast to build the amazing theme park he envisioned. Walt Disney flew over the Orlando site in November of 1963. Seeing the well-developed network of roads, including the planned Interstate 4 and Florida's Turnpike, with McCoy Air Force Base (later Orlando International Airport) to the east, Disney selected a centrally-located site near Bay Lake.
To avoid a burst of land speculation, Disney used various dummy corporations to acquire 27,443 acres of land. In May 1965, some of these major land transactions were recorded a few miles southwest of Orlando in Osceola County. Also, two large tracts totaling $1.5 million were sold, and smaller tracts of flatlands and cattle pastures were purchased by exotic-sounding companies such as the Latin-American Development and Management Corporation and the Reedy Creek Ranch Corporation, Retlaw (Walter backwards) and Ayefor (I-4).Some of these names are now memorialized on a window above Main Street, U.S.A. in the Magic Kingdom. On October 20, 1965, Walt held a press conference announcing to the world his dream for his new “Florida Project” –Walt Disney World!
Walt died in 1966, before his dream was fully realized, but his brother and partner, Roy Disney promised Walt on his death bed, that he would see the project through. And the rest is history!
“My only hope is that we never lose sight of one thing, that it was all started by a mouse.”- Walt Disney
