HE SAID....
Tony Walker
Before my rebirth into a career in comedy I worked at a major telephone company. I put in poles, put the cables on those poles, etc. Basic construction type work. That field has a high population of men in it. So I used to hear a ton of complaints these guys would make about their wives.
One thing I heard all the time was the fights over family obligations.
We need the money but yet she bitches that I'm always working.
I just wanna watch the game for a little while.
I only stepped out for one beer.
It's your family why do I have to go?
Why do you have to go now?
Can't you take the kids with you?
These are just a few of the complaints all of us have heard right? I know I've heard them over & over from guys I know.
For me personally things are a little different. I work mostly nights & weekends so I have a "Mr. Mom" type role since I am home during the day. Since I lose a lot of weekend time with my kids I am just about there 100% of the time during the week. I get them on & off the bus, take them to all their after school activities, etc. Sometimes I find the roles of my wife & I switched. She works all day long & then wants to spend her time after work doing her own thing like going to her hot yoga classes. For a while she was going 7 days a week sometimes twice a day! I was the one nagging about being home. I became the wife who bitches about the husband never being home. It allowed me to see what the stay at home moms were complaining about. Sure the one who goes to work all day deserves some time to unwind, but so does the stay at home parent who took care of the kids' needs. I want my time for a play date with Boyle damnit!!
What do you guys think? What is a valid reason for getting your own play time over family obligations? How do you guys handle who gets time? Do you parents out there feel that both parents are getting a fair amount of play time?

"So we finish 18 and he's gonna stiff me. And I say, 'Hey, Lama! Hey! How about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know.' And he says, 'Oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness.' So I got that going for me, which is nice."

SEVEN DAY SEX CHALLENGE, BRING IT OR BUST IT!?
Jillian B Hart
Me being me, it's no surprise that a friend told me about the One Extraordinary Marriage "7 Day Sex Challenge", and encouraged me to "read", "research" and "share" my thoughts. Tony and Alisa Dilorenzo, speak about how when it comes to sex, life gets in the way. HMMMM.... been there, wrote about that numerous times here at the lounge. They are promoting the "7 Day Sex Challenge" to improve your marriage. Do note, they have a spiritual side to the challenge and include prayer. I will say prayer always has a place in marriage and partnership, and never underestimate the power of a praying wife. Trick is to make sure she's praying for your good being and not your demise. Or vise versa. But that's a whole other blog. Like me, the Dilorenzos, encourage you to shake things up and think out of the typical bedroom box. Consider what is stated in Rebooting in the Bedroom - do what you can and must too prevent your sex life from getting boring. For ideas read, The Hot List. WOW, I really am not alone in this, LOL! (Hush, Tony Walker - I know you'll be all over this!) In fact, Fox News was all over it. (Note to self - get the DRL editors to get a press release out to Fox News. my articles are right along the same lines as the Delorenzo's, HA!)
The point of being necessary for continuation of the species aside. Sex is an important part of life. Yet, all too often it is NOT a priority in your relationship. Why not? WHY THE HELL NOT? What's so complicated?! It makes for a happy lover. It really makes for a happy man! It also makes for a good time, (At least if you do it right!), good relationship, good mood, good endorphins, good health, good sleep, good stress relief, good cardio... the list goes on and on. The "no time", "no energy" thing - is true at times, but it is often truer that it is a cop out. If something is important to you - you make it a priority. Why then, if relationship is important do so many long term partners allow the sex side of it to get lost?

COKE OR PEPSI - PART II - "You got the right one Baby UH HUH"
COLA WARS
Marion Pellicano Ambrose
Much like its main competitor Coke, Pepsi Cola was invented by a pharmacist who had a soda fountain in his drug store. It was also advertised as a tonic that would refresh, but cure a variety of ailments and complaints. Caleb Bradham of New Bern, North Carolina came up with the formula for Pepsi in 1893. He called it “Brad’s Drink which was later changed to Pepsi Cola because of the ingredients pepsin and Kola nuts. Bradham was successful with the company he formed until WW I when sugar prices fell. Bradham had gambled on them continuing to rise and as a result, Pepsi Cola went bankrupt in 1923.
In 1931 Pepsi was bought by the Loft Candy Company (YUM, I remember them and their amazing candy called Parlays!). The new owner, Charles Guth struggled to make Pepsi a success and even offered to sell the company to Coca Cola several times. It wasn’t until 1936 that Guth was able to reorganize his company, improved the formula and began selling 12 ounce bottles at the same price Coca Cola was selling its 6 ounce bottles for – 5 cents! Finally, people had a compelling reason to switch from Coke to Pepsi and they did, to the tune if one billion bottles consumed in 1937! Pepsi is generally recognized for its clever advertising, most of which concentrates on outshining its arch enemy, Coke! Who can forget this famous Pepsi commercial?
So, are you a Pepsi person? Think you know all about Pepsi Cola?
Take the Pepsi Quiz and find out!
One last comparison; here are the mission statements for both companies.
PepsiCo's mission is "To be the world's premier consumer products company focused on convenient foods and beverages. We seek to produce healthy financial rewards to investors as we provide opportunities for growth and enrichment to our employees, our business partners and the communities in which we operate. And in everything we do, we strive for honesty, fairness and integrity."
Coke's is: "Our mission is to create a growth strategy that allows us to bring good to the world -- by refreshing people every day and inspiring them with optimism through our brands and our actions."

I went to the doctor the other day. I flipped my penis onto the table & told the doc to have a look at it.
Doc said, "I see nothing wrong with this."
I replied, "I know. It's a beauty ain't it?"

ART GALLERY OF DREAMS
In the Studio with Garyo - Day Two
If you haven't tuned in on Day One. Recently Green Whisker Works, my NY-Based studio, had a contest on FaceBook. The contest was simple, go on the Green Whisker Works page do the "like" thing and then post a picture of your pet. After the deadline, I put everyone's name that posted in a hat a randomly pulled out one lucky winner. The winner was Brenda Dungan Edmonds and her little dog Nacho. So she sent me lots of wonderful pictures of this cute little guy and I set to work on immortalizing him.
Nacho's progress today is a bit more subtle than what I did on day one. Here I'm working on the forehead and eyes, tightening up the structure of the Chihuahua. Nacho is proving a bit challenging because his fur is so light it is sometime hard to see the different planes in his face.
Here I am working on improving his snout and muzzle. Nacho has a wonderful doggie smile that I want to capture. A dog's nose I find is much like a finger print in that no two are the same. So I work on getting just the right shape for the nose.
Day Two of Nacho's progress this time a profile shot. I feel the clay is starting to look more like him now and should be able to move on to details and fur at some point on Day Three

A Part of America Died Today
Somebody killed a policeman today, and a part of America died.
A piece of our country he swore to protect, will be buried with him at his side.
While a young widowed mother must work for her kids, and spend alone many long nights.
Though the flag of our nation won’t fly at half mast, to his name they will add a gold star.
Yes, somebody killed a policeman today, It happened in your town or mine.
While we slept in comfort behind our locked doors, a cop put his life on the line.
Now his ghost walks a beat on a dark city street, and he stands at each new rookie’s side.
He answered the call, and gave us his all, and a part of America died.
- Deputy Sheriff Harry Koch, Maricopa AZ County Sheriff, Retired
Motorcycle runs, candlelight vigils, parades and various services will be held throughout the nation to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice. All police departments as well as citizens are asked to place blue ribbons on the antenna of their cars on May 15th to show their support.

LUNCH TIME POLL

You are never going to believe who is back together....
This morning Fox announced that Paula Abdul will join Simon Cowell on the X-FACTOR as a judge, this fall, which started auditions this past weekend in Los Angeles.
The chemistry or friction between the two was sometimes funny, sometimes uncomfortable, but did make for awesome ratings. That was the last time I watched Idol. L.A. Reid and Cheryl Cole will join Paula and Simon as judges this season as well.
Were you planning on watching X Factor this fall?
Are you more inclined to tune in with Paula on the panel?

1970 - Let's Go Back!
Dawn Boyle
Yesterday we celebrated Mother's Day at my brother and sister-in-laws house. I really enjoyed myself and it was beautiful out. We were talking about the prices of gas and how much our mortgage payments were. Then went on to locking or unlocking doors at night and how we don't let our children play alone in the front the house. We talked about all the things that have changed since the 70's. I tried to explain things to my kids, they didn't get it so I went visual and googled stuff for them to actually look at - I explained about Atari and phones on cords. How I would walk out the front door and all the way down the driveway on the CORDED phone. I showed them Simon and mastermind. They were about done with me and my trip down memory lane, but I kept digging. I have some stuff listed below to jog your memory and have some fun flashbacks!
Music 70's
- Progressive rock created a new generation of bands including Genesis, Yes, Emerson, Lake & Palmer and Pink Floyd. Many other singers and bands also started or strengthened their fan base including The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, AC/DC, Queen, Black Sabbath .
- In Europe, the music was not as progressive from bands like T Rex, Gary Glitter and David Bowie, and bands like Slade and the Sweet. and possibly the most successful in the 70's being ABBA

Robert Redford
Clint Eastwood
John Wayne

The Waterbed The 70's produced many icons , one of those being the modern waterbed created by Charles Hall in 1968, This was fueled by the sexual revolution of the 70's encompassing the Waterbed .
What are you fondest 70's memories that I didn't get on here?
One thing that has certainly changed since the 70's is my memory....I lost that, my mother says that happens when you have kids - THANK GOD we have google now to find it!
